The Mekaal Hasan Band is a jazz/rock fusion band from Pakistan, playing a unique style of music which draws from eastern and western influences to create a blend of sounds deeply rooted in eastern classical styles and a jazz-rock feel reminiscent of the 70's. The band was formed in 2001 under guitarist and composer Mekaal Hasan, initially starting with a collaboration with renowned percussionist Pete Lockett. The efforts received critical and public acclaim as a breakthrough style of fusion music.
